Art day camps happening this summer

No more school, no more books, but the artistic learning is off the hook.

No more school, no more books, but the artistic learning is off the hook.

Summer may be the end of the daily trips to the traditional classroom, but it's just the start of new forms of expressionism and socialization that comes from arts-based summer day camps.

At the colourful end of that paintbrush is the Community Arts Council (CAC), hosting their annual Summer Day Camp of the Arts at their creative complex at Studio 2880 (2880 15th Ave.).

The CAC camps begin July 4 and run in week-long blocks through to Aug. 11. Kids can sign up for a week, multiple weeks, or all summer.

The weekly themes have titles like International Baking Week, Ooey Gooey & Slimey Too, Amazing Race and Wizards.

These camps have been in operation since 1974, making the CAC one of the longest servers of summer arts instruction and youthful fun in the city.

To reserve your spaces, drop into Studio 2880, call them at 250-562-4526, or register online at www.studio2880.com.
