The Prince George Citizen is currently 100% paginated. This requires all advertising files to be in a format compatible with QuarkXPress on Macintosh computers. We can no longer 'cut and paste' content for the paper.

PDF files are becoming the industry standard format for electronic files. Many technical problems can be avoided by making use of Adobe®'s PDF technology.

All other formats submitted electronically must be created with the following guidelines in mind to ensure timely and quality reproduction of digital material. If you have any questions or require technical assistance, please contact the prepress department at (250) 562-2441.

• All custom colours must be specified and defined as process CMYK colours.
• Be sure all fonts are supplied with the job or embedded in the file.
• Only Type 1 fonts should be used. Other types: Multiple Master, Opentype, Truetype, and GX fonts may or may not work. These types of fonts can cause problems and require a testing period.
• Laser printed proofs must accompany submitted material by mail or fax to your sales representative.
• Our final output is at 1200 dpi with a line screen of 100 lpi. For best results and optimal file size downsample color and grayscale images to 150 dpi and monochrome images to 600 dpi.
• Tonal range: Highlight dot at 5% and Shadow dot at 90%.
• Adobe Photoshop can be set to show a 30% dot gain to closer resemble the result on newsprint.
• The preferred file format is PDF. For best results create a postscript file and distill using Acrobat® Distiller®. Click here for more details on PDF files.
