Well then, somebody suggest a reason why IPG would place a dog in an office, while giggles and laughs come from the back room? Were they writing a letter to Rona Ambrose to interfere in a legal strike of some workers? Maybe they were cooking something up in the back room, something spicy, something thrilling, something steamy? Come on Raparee and MustBeYou, help me out here? LMAOROF - Harold Backer

"I have been thinking about the post from cim2, as to why they would have a dog locked up in the office. It crossed my mind that the reason must be, in case big fry, like some oriental business investor dropped into the office. They would be able to cook him a nice "home style" dinner right on the spot."
This from a person who says everyone in PG is a racist hillbilly. Get a life Backer and go pester the people in Kamloops for a change. Only thing I can think of is they got tired of you there and banned your ip from any of thier forums. - MustBMe

Truthseeker, they must be real busy there, at least they have time to write to Rona in Ottawa to complain about some longshoreman in Prince Rupert who does an honest day, afternoon, or night shift on docks.

I have been thinking about the post from cim2, as to why they would have a dog locked up in the office. It crossed my mind that the reason must be, in case big fry, like some oriental business investor dropped into the office. They would be able to cook him a nice "home style" dinner right on the spot.

Now to norml (that is quite the assumption you make with that nic), so you think free collective bargaining is "extortion?" It seems like they have all kinds of resources to pay high priced executives, who produce very little and seem to know even less. Did you know that by (:06 AM this very morning, the highest paid executives in Canada will have made more than those longshoremen will will make for an entire years work? The good news is that the longshoreman might be able to buy a new truck from his local GM dealer, unlike the person working in the service industry. And norml, Ford doesn't need a bailout, only GM and Chrysler. Do you think it might have something to do with management instead of the unions?

Truthseeker, best of luck with your project in the 2009!

i as well have been into IPG on several occasions,
Trying to talk or even contact P.G. initiatives: was a waste of my time,
obviously I am too “small fry” to receive a call back. After several attempts to meet with anyone or receive any guidance or advise, (considering recent events it probably better I did not receive advice ) eventually I was informed that I did not fit their mandate. And that Tim and Cathy were much too busy. Yet they never met me or heard the idea, they were I’m sure very busy.(Tim /Kristie/Cathy. S?) It is also funny that the only 3 times I went into the building no one was around, not to greet you or anything you just stand in this beautiful office with no one and nothing going on around, eventually I left, . It was also funny when I called one day to book an appointment (since no one manned the office) and a young girl answered, she took my name and number and said she’ll call right back with a day and time to come in. 5 hours passed it was almost 3 30 so I decided to go back down to the office and drop off a package containing an over view of our idea, when I got to the office someone was there at the desk this time, I walked over to a very young girl, with nothing in front of her except a yellow post it that read my name and phone number... that was it. I laughed and said “hi”, pointed to the post-it and said “that’s me”,
she began with how “sorry” she was she hadn’t called me back yet but they were very “busy,” I left my information and went home, I never got a single call ever.
High paid salaries , flights around the globe, wine dine and got no time for the small fry.!!!!!!!!!!!1 - truthseeker

went into ipg in the summer, on a friday, and there was no one around. as i walked towards the counter, i passed a closed office and in that closed office, a little dog making a hell of a mess. there was papers everywhere, all over the floor, the dog was having a party. i stood at the counter and i could here laughing and giggling from further down. i waited 5 minutes and no one came to the counter to help me. i could have taken the keys and laptop, but all i wish i had was a picture. 1 week later, a newspaper article saying they, ipg, needed more money. OMG! - cim2

I agree with white eyes. Every time I read or hear about another strike the first thing I want to know is how much are they getting and how much do they want.Harold seems to assume there are unlimmited resources just waiting to be extorted out of companies. The results are obvious in Detroit. - norml

Wow, THE CITIZEN seems to being giving Tim twice the say as anyone else. Or was it an attempt to hide the "I wish I had a camera" post. Shame, shame on you. I suppose you will be supporting the Liberals in the upcoming election, after all, look at all the advertising dollars they are spending on at your newspaper. Unbiased, objective and neutral coverage of current events is your job. The coverage that is provided for IPG is brutally biased and distorted in their favor. - Harold Backer

MARKET VALUE!
written by Harold Backer , January 01, 2009 (04:40:44 PM)
MustBe You. I am not so sure that wages causes inflation. Monetary policy and market conditions do. Look at the recent huge rises in the price of housing and food. Construction workers never received any huge increases, and the stores will tell you energy prices has caused rising food prices. Who can ya believe? What we have seen is huge increases in prices, and peoples standards of living lowering, (except for the wealthy, Lib-Cons Neo-Con thugs) that seem to get elected to office.

Now, the IPG folks, who locked the dog in the office, and then giggled and laughed in the back office.....I bet your willing to pay them more than the long-shore man on night shift? RIGHT? - Harold Backer

Not to mention with outrageously high wages comes outrageously high prices for everything. So unless there is a magic button that gives everyone a massive pay increase at the same time so everyone is on par, a lot more people will not be able to afford to eat let alone have any fun in thier spare time. If wages in some sectors werent skyrocketing out of control, there would be far less middle income people who cant even afford a decent way of life. A fair wage is something everyone should be able to expect, but some sectors are way over what the work should be valued at and unfortunately there are more businesses than not that simply cant compete in the $40-$50 per hour range for thier workers...so how are those people supposed to afford a life? There has to be checks and balances in wage and prices for everyone to maintain a comfortable standard of living. - Harold Backer

FAIRLY NEGOTIATED WAGES AND CONDITIONS!
written by Harold Backer , January 01, 2009 (03:50:33 PM)
North, your envious? Get off your ass and demand better wages and conditions for all workers. Quit trying to drag down those who exercise their economic power to better their lives. You sound like an wa wa wa wa.

In my opinion all workers should get those kind of wages and conditions, even those who work in retail and service industries. Organize! Make sure you vote for MP's who support working people in their battles. The ones you have now support only the wealthy. - Harold Backer

This is fact, not fiction
written by north , January 01, 2009 (03:18:44 PM)
These long shoremen have been one of the highest paid workers in the Province, where else can you get a wage like they get and not have to have a education? They make twice the money as any Mill Worker and the best benifits and pension plan there is, and all they do is ask for more. I know I had inlaws working there and i have seen their pay stubs, and another thing there is not such a thing is time and a half for overtime, it is all double time, and to work the afternoon shift is always double time, a friend of mine always worked the afternoon shift because of the big money, and went to work in New Westminster in the summer time in Cut offs and running shoes, this was in the 70s, and now their wages are up around 42 dollars a hour for the Forman and the workers are not far behind them in pay, if you call it work now, it's mostly done by Machines, mabe we should take up a collection for them, their starving to death.
ECONOMY OF CANADA ON THE LINE!
written by Harold Backer , January 01, 2009 (11:32:13 AM)
My goodness, cim2. Are you saying that while the economic future of Prince George, northern BC, British Columbia, and Canada are on the line; dogs are locked in IPG offices, while folks "giggle and laugh" in the back. Tim sounds like a responsible, upright, focused individual in his press release wanting to take workers rights away. Of course he is probably one of those Lib-Conserv Neo Cons who has caused the economic crisis in the first place. Probably expects workers to be without rights and work for minimum wages, while he gets his jollies in the back office?

Who was that guy in Rome, who fiddled ( maybe giggled and laughed too), while the town was burning all around him? - Harold Backer

GOVERNMENT IN HIDING!
written by Harold Backer , January 01, 2009 (09:39:04 AM)
What IPG really wants is the workers legislated back to work, should they strike. So much for the right to strike. Unfortunately for Tim and his gang, your political agents in Ottawa are on strike, (or prorogued,or hiding from Parliament, or have locked out our MP's from doing the countries business.)

Too bad Tim, but on the positive side, you have your political friends in both Victoria and Ottawa running things. They have both promised a booming economy, although when things go sour, they blame it on other events. Well too bad Tim, your political agents can do little for ya. Maybe try honesty sometime! Just remember Tim, the fundamentals are solid so any harm will be quickly repaired. Maybe get to work on more direct flights from Seattle? - Harold Backer

Gun to your head
written by White Eyes , January 01, 2009 (08:35:25 AM)
I always wonder what it would be like to negoiate with a gun to your head, and so many innocent people depending on you.

Does anyone know what it is that Canada is being held ramson for? Is it just something like a strike for a dozen new finger nail dryers for the secretaries, or is it money, and how much? Why the secrecy? Is it embarassing? Lets see the beef.
