well like i seen on the news and it actually made sense, if we load our bodies with anitbodies to prevent all sorts of disease then our immune system gets bored and looks for other things to fight, which is one theory as to why peanut allergies is on the rise at an alarming rate....just my opinion but for the most part our immune system is designed to fight off the very things that they want a mass injection of the public to defend against...seems they want to build a reliablity of medicine...lol didn't they make a movie some years ago concerning just that??? - pgboy

As a healthy adult, I would rather not purchase a flu shot only to find out later that there is a shortage and people who actually need them can't get them. It's happened before, it can happen again. I stopped getting the flu shot as a child and I've never had the flu in my life. I find it hard to believe that I am the one who keeps it alive. - LadyHeather

Drama drama drama...if ya dont get the shot you wont automatically die from the flu for crying out loud! The shot hasnt been out that long that it changes things that much. As i said...IF it was so inperrative that we have it, especially "at risk" people, THEY WOULD MAKE SURE THEY DIDNT RUN OUT! Think about that a minute...If it was that detrimental...there would be more than enough. Is anyone walking the streets making sure the homeless have a shot each year?? No. Because money is more important. Hmmmm money...life.... - Angelrayne

Maybe if it wasn't a SHOT I might get it! Some people don't like the idea of being poked at with needles. Just the thought makes me cringe...making my kids go through that is ridiculous. They get the flu, they're sick a few days, they go back to school and it's all over with. Think about where they get 'vaccines' from...it's just a de-activated flu virus...chances are, you're immune system can handle it if you take care of yourself.. - skylaraye

I wish Dr. William Osei would start telling the truth. Only 100 people die each year in Canada from the actual flu. But it looks like his job for many years has been to promote vaccines. So much for an unbiased letter to the editor, he wants to sell this vaccine. Sounds like a used car salesman to me.

Funny that his rant in a previous article about Gardasil states 58 adverse events out of 100,000 which is not consistant with toeing the Health Canada/Merck line of 33 out of 100,000. - justsayno

I would rather be sick with the flu and gain natural immunity than to die with cancer or some neurological condition from the poisonous chemicals in vaccines.
If the government grew some balls and wasnt so concerned with money and hurting peoples feelings they would close the borders during a pandemic.Nobody gets in,and if they are newly arrived, quarantine them.To say that a pandemic isnt preventable is utter crap.My friend and I had the same flu at the same time.I took herbs, vitamins and oils and ate healthy.I was better in a week.My friend on the other hand took pharmaceuticals, didnt eat healthy, didnt take vitamins, she was sick for 3 weeks and ended up with a serious ear infection.
Chemicals cannot make your immune system healthy. We are trading common viruses for far more serious diseases.Stop eating crap and you will have a healthy immune sysytem. - Georgiegirl

Where is Peterson?

Just a matter of time before this thread gets a good rant by Peterson.
Included will be about a half dozen internet sites that can further all of your fears.
I do not look forward to it but flu shots are good for some bad for others.
Take it if you want or don't.

It is what it is. - grassick

I'd rather be sick with a flue shot ; Then be DEAD because I didn't get the shot!
Is that a catch 22? I have been sick right after the flue shot many times!
This year I'm ok !! Touch WOOD they say Good health to you ALL! - sterling

No amount of money can convince me to inject that into my body.

I remember one year there were 10 of us at work. All but me got the flu shot. I was the only one that wasn't extremely sick that year.

What people don't seem to get is that getting things like the flu shot bypasses the first level of defense in your body's ability to build a natural immunity to foreign invaders like the flu by injecting directly into the bloodstream.

Read these two links and make up your own mind. You don't need to believe it or agree with it but when it comes to your health I think it is a good idea to be open minded and to do your research for both pro and con.

I have got the flu shot and also skip a year or two and one year i was sicker than i had ever been, ever and other times i have lucked out and missed being sick...coincidence? I have no idea. I am one of the people who they recommend get one because i have asthma but im not sure if it helps or hinders. I think more information would be good too. My daughter has also been recommended due to mild asthma BUT last year when i saw our doctor for both i got mine and then was told "Sorry we ran out of the child shots" So IF it was imperative she had it, they wouldnt have run out huh?? See, catch 22.

I think people should just go with instinct. - Angelrayne

There is little point in getting the flu shot as the strains that it "protects" you from have yet to come to BC for many years. Also, we wouldn't want to mention all the other nasty chemicals that are in there. - shisho

I have had the flu once in the last 10 years. I also had the flu shot that same year, coincidence? I have no clue. I am certainly not going to test the theory. Is there a connection? I know very little about the topic, could someone give us the facts? - Northstar

So were does the average middle aged person that works during the day and has the weekends off get a flu shot... and wouldn't it be cheaper for Northern Health to pay for it as opposed to having them show up even once at their doctors office (assuming they have one). - PGDriver

There is nothing you can say or do that would EVER convince me to get that flu shot. - hmh
