The discriminatory comment against shy and quiet people posted Aug. 26 by Another Guest is troubling.
He or she needs more free time to do research on the topic of shyness. Dr. Zimbardo of Stanford University has published a reputable book and articles on the subject.
A concern is that the discriminatory attitude against shy and quiet people may derive from the form of Social Darwinism that was predominant in North America and the U.K. in the late 19th century. In southern and central Europe in the first half of the 20th century, it gave rise to even less appealing philosophies. - pstrickland

Perhaps the catiness is gone because Supt Dahl succeeded in his quest. No matter, apologies were given and accepted as the story in the paper indicates. To shine a light on this sensitive subject was greatly needed and just maybe, Supt Dahl will know the power of dignity and respect is all that was asked for in the first place. - sunnyone

Sunny, I worked with those people and I personally witnessed bullying by the very same people who you claim got bullied. You have no idea how nice it is to be able to go to work love my job and I am glad I don't have to leave because the catiness is gone. - Pattison

A qualified manager would know how to manage a bunch of ill-favoured employees. He or She would nip any lies in the bud! A good personel manager would promote good people and demote those that were lacking. Those that were sorely hurting would be checking the papers for another job! I am not saying that what he did was fair(far be it!)but he had to find someone to fill those shoes! - D.K. Ross

Actaully, I personally know the people that the intimidation and slams were made to. This has been going on for some time and complaints were made back then. It's just taken the media this long to find out what really is happeneing behind the curtain. Imagine stepping into an environment where you are verbally attacked for trying to do your job. The position Mr. Corrigan was hired to do, was not a nice one, with budgets to set forth and cuts to make. The fact of the matter is since I have worked at the Detachment it has been known internally as a poisoned environment and not simply because of Supt Dahl. That is one reason why it's hard to get members to PG. It's obvious this hasn't changed over the years. These are not granuales of information, this is something I too have experienced. You can paint any picture you care to, harrassment, bullying, intimidation, in todays society is unacceptable in any form. It's just WRONG. - sunnyone

Good grief. The RCCMP confirmed that he called a manager names three times. The only witnesses were the close associates of the manager. Now, over how many years that these men worked together the only witnesses they could find to any incidents were the managers pets?

Besides, who in their right mind would want the job? Its hard enough to get constables to PG never mind higher ranking officials. An officer "allegedly" calls a city manager a few names and people are demanding he be replace? So...in PG your not allowed to have any b alls? Hmmmm.

You better start your search for the least experienced, quietest, wimpiest, shiest, socially inept officer in the ranks, because that seems to be the type of person PG wants in control. Hmmmm....interestingly enough it seems to me that is who the gangs would like in control too, - Another Guest

The RCMP confirmed harassment from Supt. Chambers. A code of conduct was served on Supt. Chambers. This is not a granual bit of information this is an unfortunate fact. No one likes to face these issues because the regular guy with the RCMP is doing such a good job. It is such a blemish, affecting all what they set out to do. Let the good cops get on with their good job and give them a top cop that they can trust and look up to. I commend the police work done in this city by dedicated people who have had to endure this Bully hanging over their heads. - oldsoul

Who said he was a bully? Another bully! Big suprise, if you want to direct attention away from your own faults, accuse someone else of those traits.

Stick to things you actually know something about sunny, I am sick of you know it alls that judge people based on a few granules of information. - Pattison

Websters Dictonary: Bully: An aggressive person who intimidates or mistreats weaker people. Supt Chambers is not the excellent community leader you speak of. We educate our children at an early age that bullying is unacceptable in any given form and for this tyrant to pick on others not once, but many times over is cause for outside investigations and for him to be held accountable not only to the people he has verbally assaulted but to the public as well. Supt Dahl has a job to do to serve the taxpayers and he does so probably in a great capapcity. But behind the scenes lurks an even deeper and disturbing picture of someone who lacks the abiltiy to treat people with the dignity and respect each and every one of us deserves. In my opinion, if Supt Dahl were any kind of excellent leader, he would resign his reign of power. - sunnyone
