Elected judges are a fantastic idea, that way instead of the public interest, interest of the victims, well being of the accused, and common law playing into their decision it will be doing what they think will win them the next election.

Turning our judges into politicians. Our politicians always act without flaw; we never have a complaint about them.

Four years for a guilty plea to assault and uttering threats (not attempted murder, because that was not the charge) isn't a bad sentence. - hinch1

Judges might start protecting society when they are Elected rather than Appointed. The legal system is a sick joke. - allniter

I find this absolutely disgusting - four years for attempted murder. I guess if he had killed him, he would have gotten five, with time served! Reassuring to know in less than four years this lunatic will be back on the streets. Wonder if buying an axe constitutes owning a weapon? When will laws and judges actually start protecting society? - travhops

4 years, and the judge has to decide yet? Pretty light sentence to ask for, considering the tax dollars the government is losing in earnings from the victim, and tax dollars spent on housing the perpetrator. Guess crown council should make sure this guy don't get a hand on any utensils other than plastic ones also. Yah, like, right... - Thoughtful
