Canfor is not a company like Mcdonalds or Burger King.
They do not require the people of this city or any city to shop at their place of business like the burger joints do.
There is no real point in attacking Canfor for what they are doing here. They are a company that only caters to shareholders. Thats all that matters to them. The "roots in our community" thing is only just a feel good advertisment to make Canfor and their shareholders more comfortable getting rich from processing our resources before they run out and leave our community with nothing but memories. - One Happy Camper

I don't think forestry is the biggest industry here now. I think it's retail outlets.

As for building in Fort St. John, I guess their root are in that community... - Buddy

As a person living in this small town watching the effects of these big companies to my friends and family, I think it is appalling, you can bet the CEO of Canfor is not worried about his next mortgage payment or how to feed his children. - stenseth

Everytime I see the (INSERT BIG NAME FORESTRY COMPANY HERE)
logo I hear a huge silence. Heres a company that surely DOES NOT believe there is such thing as bad publicity. Such is the state of consenus, I would venture to call the damage irreparable in terms of reputation (the people have spoken-lol) and any PR job attempt now would be the rough equivalent of trying to get Elizabeth Taylor looking like she is a ravishing 20 year old. Or convincing any modern day celeb in love with repairs that beauty fades. Some things are truly left better off alone. INSERT BIG NAME FORESTRY COMPANY HERE knows this better than anyone-lol - StraightUP

Canfor in Mackenzie

Ft St John is booming, and yet Canfor is helping to suffocate Mackenzie.
I thought their motto was "our roots are in your community"

What about the roots n Mackenzie? - stenseth

Ft. St. John doesn't need any more good news, they have oil. It just goes to show you how low Canfor can go, they couldn't even be bothered to reinvest that money in PG. Perhaps create a few more jobs at the Rustad site. - RUEZ
