ah...another guest..you obviously do NOT work for a union or even worse a government funded work environment...Its not just a few and my logic is accurate. I have worked construction most of my working career of 17years as a contractor, hired to come in and do a job in little time so we have to bust our asses...and when we see jobs that we can do in a few days stretch to even a week or longer...we say something. As for my friends i mentioned i agree few are lazy which is why they work for the city, and the others work hard but even the slated timetables for the jobs they are doing are too long, and when they finish early they still get paid the full set price of what the job could have cost, eg estimate says 1 week, they finish in 4 days, they get to sit around and look busy for 3 days...instead of that they usually choose to stretch the job for the full time alloted.

While i do see an upturn in work i also see an increase in tax dollars to pay for these particular items...and i am not sure about you but it seems it now takes alot more people to mow lawns, weed eat, water flowers etc..than it used to in the past even tho the affected areas havn't grown that much.

As stated by PG driver its in all professions...you will just see it more in government jobs alot more than others...a glaring example is our politicians...anyone working that little and getting paid that much to be that useless...and it trickles down the government salary tree

truth sucks...i have worked for the government at a college and trust me it can get very boring waiting for a contract to expire to start another one - pgboy

City workers are no different then any other profession, they have there good and the work ethically challenged. The ones mentioned by J.L. Bourdon are what the rest could only hope to be... - PGDriver

So your friends are lazy jerks and this makes the majority of city employees the same? Yeah, good logic.

How about this pg boy: Birds of a feather flock together. Don't paint everyone with the same paintbrush as you and your friends.

true wayne...what this person has seen is a very very small percentage of government paid employees...the rest will take 5 people a month to finish what 2 could do in 4 days if they actually worked...seems to be getting worse, work less for more pay and run over budget...and yes i know a few of the workers and thats how they described it while laughing about it... - pgboy
