That fire hurt the, what was it, three businesses? as well as a tenant upstairs. It is tragic and I agree with you, Laura, why was he doing his own electrical work? Why was he so interested in when everyone closed up shop that day, asked around to other people when people left the building... But it also could be a coincidence, but my friend Shawn Patterson certainly wonders these same questions. I'm sorry you didn't have insurance, I'm sorry the building burnt down, but what's better, to stay down or to get right back up and into the game once again. So now the people of PG are hard hearted? No need for the drama, if you left PG it's not because the people are bad. Wouldn't getting insurance be your responsibility? I did not write to be slammed, only to point out there is more to every story. I was away when the fire started, the owner did not purchase the insurance as I had repeatedly advised her to do. I put a lot of work into this shop that "nobody remembers" while the owner was to take care of the business and financial aspects of this business. I do not understand the anger I am recieving from people of PG. We did not recieve huge handouts, we recieved a couple of showcases and a sewing machine, to help us restart. Yes we were offered a space by initiative PG, that is what they are there for, to assist business people make a go of things. And the "free" space was for a limited time with a contract in place to pay rent or move out after a specified period of time. Thank you to Initiatives PG. I have since left Prince George, and when I read comments like these I am glad I did. Do you people realize that you are essentially kicking someone when they are down? This is the cold hearted attitude that drove me from PG, I am glad not everyone feels the same way, but enough do. Montage, the store that nobody remembers, was in the Cain building for about 2 months. Bummer that the owners weren't smart enough to obtain insurance. After the fire, they whined to the public for support. (handouts) I believe through that, they managed to obtain free space from Initatives PG. I'm sure that helped to restore a sense of purpose.
