Talk about finger pointing. You have always done nothing but say how low-life white people are and how misunderstood natives are. You really do sound like a nutcase when you go on these rampages agains whitey. You complain how people look at natives and if you are an example then how can we find it in ourselves to learn and understand if we have to listen to the crap from your mouth every time a discussion on natives begins. I dont know what happened to you in your life to make you so bitter against white people, but I can almost guarantee you that no one here has done anything to you, so lighten up with the attitude. It is almost as if you WANT there to be unending controversy and dont give a rats ass if anything is accomplished. - MustBMe

You mean you want the reserve to use pesticides on their lawns so they can take part in killing off song birds, wild flowers and bees too.I'm sure they would love to re-side their homes and fix it up to so-called non-native standards but it will take 10 years for the feds to yank that huge chunk of lead out of their rear ends so those natives living in free luxury can actually do it.
I had the misfortune of living in the "fort".Thankfuly for a short time.I regualrily took walks around that town, like theres anything else to do.I have to agree, that trailer park/entity is far more disgusting than the reserve. We regularily drove the back roads and there were places that made the Beverly hill billies shack look like a palace, and there werent natives living there. Aw shucks, theres places in town like that.I came across plenty of non-natives staggering around and barfing on the street.Construction workers calling people names while on the job.Animal abuse is rampant.I saw more than my fair share of some non-native scum giving his dog a beating,or leaving it out in freezing temps with no shelter or food. How about the cat breeding program in the trailer park.Care to discuss the rampant poaching, its no secret. How about the non-native teens taking picnic tables and trashing them, stealing bikes, breaking windows. How about the non-natives driving their vehicles and ATV's right up the middle of fish bearing streams.Ive seen just as many non-natives living in filth and squallor and not taking care of their kids as natives. There was never an incedent of a non-native man beating the crap out of his wife.It never happens right. In the short time that we were there I got quite the eye full. This superiority complex that seems to plague non-natives is one filthy disease. If non-natives are so superior they would at least have the scruples to not speed in school zones, its rather clear that they dont.I know native families who have a spotless house, they dont drink, they raised their kids with morals and didnt hand them a condom to have a good time. They could put the average family to shame. I dont know how many times Ive walked past a group of teens in the mall who seem to have the intellect of a maggot.Their language capability doesnt go beyond four letter words.None of them were native. There are just as many bad things happening in the general community as in the native community in every way. This finger pointing is crap.

Jules I agree totally. Social workers are human, as are constables, which Howard mentioned. Good and bad in all. I only meant that because of their work, they are more aware of all sides of society. Maybe more than the average person whose only image of 'bad' is from watching "Cops" on TV. I think your point of 'ignorance' is the key to many problems. - islandplans

Social workers, like everyone else, also have political stripes. I've seen the best and the worst of native culture, and non-native culture. In my opinion, most of the differences between these 'two' cultures stem from attitudes towards one another, and the accompanying ignorance. - Jules

As a separate issue, but in response to the above, I think you are completely wrong with your assessment of social workers. I believe they, better than most, probably have an excellent grasp of what a given society is like. They are not sheltered like most, see the 'worst' of society, and generally know the 'pulse' of a city quite well.

Of course they are not perfect. Tragedies such as the one you mention sadly happen. I think it often more a result of limited resources than individual workers - although that is also possible. Why you think they are '..hardly the type to gage (gauge) the merits of a civilization..' makes no sense to me. - islandplans

Northstar I grew up in FSJ, so don't lecture me about how the native people there are the only problem. My aunt and uncle were both constables in FSJ and believe me they spent just as much time in the trailer courts as the ol' rez. Social worker are hardly the type to gage the merits of a civilization. Just ask the parents of Amanda Simpson. - Howard B Stern

Native Band Stance is Environmentaly Unsightly

I have lived in the Fort for two years now, and I have never seen a native band that cares less about it's suroundings. Mr Stern, do you think the 20 RCMP in our little town spend most of there time at the trailer courts?! I have spoken to social workers who say this town reminds them of Vancouvers downtown east side. Nakazdli: It is time to work with the rest of society, not against it. Oh and Mrs Bird, the environment begins in our backyards, so please clean yours! - Northstar

What an unenviable competition we have going on here. Let's find out who is 'worst'. Current leader ... apparently trail courts. Always on shaky ground when one has to compare to 'someone' worse than them.......

Ever been to any of the trailer courts in the Fort? They make Nak'azdli reserve look like a hospital operating room.

-I will take that seriously when or if they clean that disgusting reserve up!! All the mining camps in the province combined are cleaner then Nak’azdli's reserve. - FSJ
