I for one had parents that werent' afraid to educate me in the courses of right and wrong and i am gratefull. I was taught a healthy fear of my parents which over the years turned into great respect for my elders and others. I've run in to the same thing. A car full of teenagers turning left onto the Bypass from 22nd threw the biggest bag McDonals supplies full of garbage out the window in the middle of the intersection. I honked and shook my finger at them, at which point they all gave me the finger and then gleefully threw every bit of garbage out of their car onto the road, laughing all the way of course. While I think Singapore laws may be a little extreme, I like the fact that you can get nailed for spitting gum or chucking cigarette butts on the sidewalk, and throwing garbage onto the street is a fairly serious infraction. I'm not in favour of caning people (which is one of their punishments I believe), but on the other hand putting some teeth into laws here in Canada wouldn't bother me at all! As for those girls acting like disgusting pigs, what on earth were they thinking???? I can only imagine what visitors to our city must think. I have also seen drivers throw garbage (that includes cigarette butts!) out their window.
