She is so uninspiring and so out of tune with the community. And all she ever says is: We need to diversify. Tourism! Mining! They are the way of the future! Geez. Half the town are ex-pat Newfoundlanders and we know those lines like the back our hand. The simple truth is the town is for some lean years. You can't diversify. You can just wait it out. Alas, Killam knows this is not the kind of attitude that will get her re-elected. The only chance of staying in town is if you commute elsewhere or you sell your house to someone who's commuting elsewhere. The district needs to stop marketing itself to sledders -- they aren't big spenders who can support the whole town by wandering in from the Pine Pass and staying a night at the local hotel.
