ALAN HAROLD PRETTY April 14, 1942 ~ May 9, 2008 It is with sadness that our family must announce that Alan's year long battle with cancer is over. Alan was born in Victoria, BC, where he took his early schooling. The family moved to Port Alberni and then to Prince George where Alan finished his schooling. Alan then joined the Royal Canadian Navy, serving 3 years on the H.M.C.S. Chaudiere, based in Halifax. In 1962, Alan returned home to play and win the men's Simon Fraser Open. As Golf and Curling were two of Alan's passions, he played in many local and provincial tournaments and bonspiels. Alan was the first CPGA Assistant Golf Professional at the Prince George golf and Curling Club under his late father Harold Pretty. Later in his career, Alan became the Golf Professional out of Aspen Grove for a number of years. Alan's love of golf and teaching led him to tour the north, giving lessons and repairing clubs, a skill he learned when working at Pro Made Golf Co. in Vancouver. He will be remembered by members of the smaller golf clubs between PG, Smithers, Fort St. John and Dawson Creek, as well as many CNC students in the Golf Education program. Alan also loved the outdoors and fishing, exploring the countryside with family and friends Many days were spent at the cabin at Cluculz Lake and camping around northern BC. He will be missed by many. Predeceased by his first grandson, Tristan Bozoki in 1993 and his father, Harold Pretty in 1995; Alan is survived by his mother, Maureen Pretty; his children: daughter Ann (Michael) Bozoki, son Michael (Nicole) Pretty, grandchildren Delainey and Dominique Bozoki, and Daniel and Parker Pretty; sisters: Kathy Mears-Stevens (Jack Stevens) and Patti Robison, nephews & nieces Sean (Martina) Mears, Brian Robison, Deborah Robison, Crystal and Karen Stevens; his Best Friend Mary James and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins throughout BC and Alberta. Please join us for a celebration of Alan's life at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club on Thursday, May 15th at 7pm
