Chalmers, William "Bill": of Oliver, BC passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the South Okanagan General Hospital at the age of 82 years.
Bill will be fondly remembered by his loving family including wife Isobella of 64 years; daughter Isobel Nemitz; sons Ian Chalmers, Duncan (Jeannie) Chalmers and Gordon Chalmers; grandchildren Wendy (Kemper) Klyne, Rod (Janice) Nemitz, James (Jackie) Chalmers, Sara Chalmers and Kevin Morland; great-grandchildren Abby Klyne, Logan and Ryan Nemitz; brother Neil (Frances) Chalmers of Scotland; nephews Neil and Stuart Chalmers of Scotland; sisters-in-law Daisy Wilson of Scotland brother-in-law Sandy (Margaret) of England; nieces Lynn of Scotland and Natasha Bain of England as well as many extended family and special friends.
He was predeceased by beloved daughter-in-law Lorna Chalmers; great-grandson Caleb James Chalmers; parents Bill and Elizabeth Chalmers and sister-in-law Louie Donald.
Bill was born on December 7, 1925 in Cairnie, Scotland and moved to Prince George in 1955 to work at the sawmills. He later worked as a manager at Liquor Stores in Prince George, Bralorne, Mackenzie, Port Coquitlam and Maple Ridge before retiring to Oliver in 1987. From 1944 - 1948, Bill was a proud member of the Scots Guard - 2nd Battalion Guardsmen. Over the years he was also a member of the Free Masons and the Legion.
He loved to RV, enjoyed visiting Scotland, trips to Reno and a good single malt. Bill also greatly enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, biking, playing cards and watching NHL hockey.
He was very devoted to his family, hardworking, honest, compassionate, had a great sense of humour and was always willing to lend a hand. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday May 15th at the Cherry Grove Clubhouse.
