NEIL, VERNON ALEXANDER
On May 5th, 2008, Vernon Alexander Neil of Edson, Alberta, beloved husband of Mary passed away at the age of 92 years. Vernon was born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He moved to British Columbia in 1932 and worked in the logging industry in Giscome, Newlands and Prince George. He started his own crane business with his son Duncan in 1972 in Houston, British Columbia. He retired in 1983 and he and Mary moved to Edson in 1991.
Besides his loving wife Mary, Vernon is survived by his children and their families:
his son Duncan (Norma) Neil of Houston British Columbia and their children, Tara (Mike) Johnson and son Spencer of Prince George, British Columbia, Vernon (Nadine) Neil and their children, Colton, Hayden and Quinn all of Prince George, British Columbia, and Jacqueline (Kerry) Vanderwijk and their daughter Xanthia all of Kelowna, British Columbia; his daughter Beverly (Emmanouil) Kazoleas and their children, Bill (Karen Kluthe) Kazoleas, James (Denise Krushell) Kazoleas and daughter Victoria, all of Edson, Alberta, Christopher Kazoleas of Calgary, Alberta; and his daughter Carol Neil also of Calgary, Alberta.
Vernon is also survived by his siblings, Peter (Lil) Neil of Prince George, British Columbia, Kathleen Whitson of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and Betty (Bill) Watters of Kelowna, British Columbia. There are numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends left to mourn as well.
Vernon was predeceased by his mother Mamie in 1931 and his father Duncan in 1947 as well as siblings Duncan, Charles, Rita, Eileen, Borden, Harold, Jack and Helen.
Funeral services for Vernon Alexander Neil took place on Saturday, May 10th, 2008 at 1:00 PM at St. Catherine's Anglican Church in Edson, Alberta with Rev. Colin Belton officiating. Interment followed in the Glenwood Cemetery, Edson, Alberta.
In lieu of floral tributes, the family suggests donations be directed to St. Catherine's Anglican Church Building Fund PO Box 6457, Edson, Alberta, T7E 1T8 or to the Edson Nursing Home, 4716 - 5th Ave., Edson, Alberta, T7E 1S8 in memory of Vernon Alexander Neil.
