Doctor Peter Jaron passed away May 4, 2008 Born in Winnipeg in 1915 he completed his degree of medicine at the University of Manitoba in 1939 and his residency in Calgary at Holy Cross Hospital. He served as a physician and surgeonin the Canadian Armed Forces in World War II. After the war he worked in small mining and pulp and paper communities in British Columbia including Polaris-Taku Mines, Britannia Beach, Cranbrook, and Powell River before settling in Prince George in 1955 shortly after marrying Shirley Duck. Starting as one of only a few doctors in Prince George, he served the growing community for more than 40 years as a general practitioner, surgeon and hospital chief of staff until his retirement at age 76. In 1989 he celebrated 50 years of practicing medicine. He is predeased by his wife Shirleyand survived by his children Greg (Emma) of Vancouver and Kirsten of Calgary. Services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, May 14 at St. Michael's and All Angels Church in Prince George.The interment will take place in advance of the service at the Prince George Municipal Cemetery for close friends & family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Prince George Hospice Society 3089 Clapperton St, Prince George BC V2N 5L4.
