    Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

    TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

    Toronto Stock Exchange (12,383.60 down 25.64 points):

    Crescent Point Energy Corp. (TSX:CPG). Oil and gas. Up $1.93, or 4.41 per cent, at $45.70 on 28,303,381 shares. The energy sector was one of the advancers, rising 0.32 per cent to 266.87 points, buoyed by the price of the November oil contract which closed up 47 cents US at $92.89 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange.

    CGA Mining Ltd. (TSX:CGA). Miner. Up 30 cents, or 10.75 per cent, at $3.09 on 24,015,560 shares. The stock price of the Australia-based company closed at its highest level since July 2011. The steady rise is due to its announcement on Wednesday that it will be acquired by Vancouver-based B2Gold Corp. in a $1.1 billion deal.

    Avion Gold Corp. (TSX:AVR). Miner. Down five cents, or 6.41 per cent, at 73 cents on 19,924,982 shares.

    San Gold Corp. (TSX:SGR). Miner. Up four cents, or 3.85 per cent, at $1.08 on 17,518,146 shares. The gold sector led the advancers, up 0.60 per cent to 353.25 points, as price of the bullion climbed US$7.80 to end the day at $1,778 per ounce on the Nymex.

    Research In Motion (TSX:RIM). Wireless technology. Down 50 cents, or 7.41 per cent, at $6.25 on 12,994,563 shares. The BlackBerry maker suffered an embarrassing service outage earlier in the day which affected up to six per cent of RIM's user base in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for a maximum of three hours.

    Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Oil and gas. Down five cents, or 0.15 per cent, at $32.99 on 12,988,174 shares. The Calgary-based company announced it will buy back some of its shares under a pre-defined plan with a broker.

    TSX Venture Exchange (1,345.43 up 10.54 points):

    Aurcana Corp. (TSXV:AUN). Miner. Up 11 cents, or 10.58 per cent, at $1.15 on 12,453,665 shares.

    Poynt Corp. (TSXV:PYN). Smartphone software creator. Up 1.5 cents, or 75 per cent, at 3.5 cents on 9,061,213 shares.

    Companies reporting major news:

    Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Up three cents, or 0.82 per cent, at $3.71 on 10,529,371 shares. The company's aerospace division added Mongolia to its global customer base after Eznis Airways acquired a used Q400 turbo from Danish leasing company to add to its fleet of Swedish and British built planes.
