    Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

    TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

    Toronto Stock Exchange (11,766.36, up 126.61 points):

    Progress Energy Resources Corp. (TSX:PRQ). Oil and gas. Up $2.77, or 13.79 per cent, at $22.85 on 20,487,872 shares. Malaysia's Petronas has increased its bid for Progress Energy Resources Corp. in order to trump a rival offer. Petronas is now paying $22 per share, up from the $20.45 it announced it was offering a month ago.

    Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Down three cents, or 0.82 per cent, at $3.62 on 14,634,579 shares.

    Nexen Inc. (TSX:NXY). Oil and gas. Up four cents, or 0.15 per cent, at $26 on 8,497,755 shares.

    Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up five cents, or 0.59 per cent, at $8.54 on 5,385,239 shares.

    Baja Mining Corp. (TSX:BAJ). Miner. Down 2.5 cents, or 31.25 per cent, at 5.5 cents on 4,951,677 shares. Baja shareholder Joseph Sue-Tang has filed a class-action lawsuit claiming the company and some of its current and former directors and employees made misrepresentations from November 2010 to April 2012. The suit, which has not yet been certified, seeks $250 million in damages and $10 million in punitive damages, interest and costs.

    Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM). Oil and gas. Up 69 cents, or 5.74 per cent, at $12.71 on 4,620,643 shares.

    TSX Venture Exchange (1,190.64 up 9.22 points):

    Zodiac Exploration Inc. (TSXV:ZEX). Miner. Unchanged at 3.5 cents, or 5,154,700 shares.

    Guyana Precious Metals Inc. (TSXV:GPM). Miner. Down 0.5 cents, or 6.67 per cent, at seven cents on 5,058,900 shares.

    Companies reporting major news:

    TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP). Oil and gas. Up five cents, or 0.11 per cent, at $44.85 on 2,534,940 shares. The company is poised to start building an oil pipeline to Texas refineries within weeks now that it has obtained all of the permits it needs to go ahead. The Calgary-based pipeline giant said Friday the way is now clear to be begin construction on the US$2.3-billion pipeline between Cushing, Okla., and the Gulf Coast.
