Petroplus to sell French refinery, examining options for Swiss, Belgian sites amid credit stop

GENEVA - Swiss-based Petroplus Holdings says it plans to sell its Petit Couronne oil refinery in France as it struggles to get lenders to unfreeze its credit lines.

Europe's largest independent oil refiner and wholesaler said Friday it is also examining options including sale for its refineries in Antwerp, Belgium, and Cressier, Switzerland.

The company suspended operations at the three sites earlier this month.

Petroplus also has refineries at Ingolstadt in Germany and Coryton in England.

Together, its plants normally produce 667,000 barrels per day.
