The Cariboo Cougars put a halt to a five-game losing skid with back-to-back victories against the winless Thompson Blazers this weekend in Chase.
Steven Jandric gave the Cougars their first win in three weeks of B.C. Major Midget League action Saturday when he scored with 27 seconds remaining in the game for a 3-2 victory. The Cougars relief at snapping the losing streak was evident Sunday as the grip on their sticks was looser and they were able to break open their largest margin of victory this season with a 5-1 win.
Colton Thomas had two goals for the Cougars and Jandric, Greg Dakus and Cole Morris added singles as the Cats moved back to .500 at 5-5 with the sweep. The Blazers fell to 0-10-2.
The Cougars return home this weekend for a pair of games against the Kootenay Ice at CN Centre - Saturday, 1:15 p.m. and Sunday, 10:15 a.m.
