I am writing to express my sheer horror at some of the things I have witnessed at the traffic-signals between Fifth Avenue and 15th Avenue on Tabor Boulevard South.
This morning at 8:23 a.m. it was a white Honda CRV which was moving, at my guesstimate, at between 85 and 95 km/h.
The light was on red as it sped through the intersection.
There were two young children crossing, with hands held, and they were almost at the centre median when this vehicle sped through. The driver was oblivious to both the children and the red light.
Every morning it is the same scenario, with infractions constantly happening. I feel it is only a matter of time.
There are three schools in the vicinity, with children and teens everywhere. Naturally there is a lot of traffic, especially school buses and early-morning commuters, and I feel a lot of the latter are all trying to get to work on time.
It seems that between 8:10 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. is the worst time, and I have witnessed these same things day after day. Maybe a little more police presence in the area would help ?
Kudos to the City of Prince George for the beautiful smooth finish that they installed there, but you know, speeds have increased dramatically now.
Maybe it's the appropriate time now for a new name... like Le Mans Boulevard South.
