I would like to take this opportunity to help out some of the local food establishments.
Recently I attended a restaurant here in Prince George with my family. While we were satisfied with our food the lady and her two kids sitting directly beside us wasn't so fortunate.
Unfortunately for her she found a very long black hair in her food. She did the right thing by calling out the manager and addressing the concern.
The manager responded promptly with we are not required to wear hair nets in the kitchen. Quite right in that you are not required to wear hair nets, you are however required to have your hair secured not in a pony tail.
Having your hair in a pony tail makes it more likely to fall out than if its in a hat, hair net or tied back in a bun.
I have been in the food service industry for more than 15 years. I would never let my employees male or female work with hair in a pony tail.
I urge all food service workers, whether fast food or fine dining to take pride in your work and secure your hair properly. Its part of proper sanitation and makes for a more enjoyable experience by guests to your establishment.
