In the Aug. 26 issue of The Citizen are two articles which highlight the use of social media. One article is about how some moms got out their message regarding restrictions for breastfeeding at sites in the Pine Centre via Facebook and Twitter.
The other article is about city administration wanting to engage more feedback from citizens of Prince George for the annual budget plan. That article reports how the city of Nanaimo has used Facebook and Twitter to expand avenues for engagement. Recently, the city of Prince George shut down their social media use of Facebook and Twitter. If city administration truly wants to engage our citizens, it is important to use as many sources as possible, including Facebook and Twitter to gain input.
