The family of Greg Matters has set up an online account for those interested in donating toward the cost of a lawyer for the coming inquest into the Prince George man's death.
The PayPal account can be found at the Justice for Greg page on Facebook.
Cheques, cash and money orders are also being accepted at both the downtown and Hart branches of the Spruce Credit Union. The account number is 100 763 888.
Matters was shot to death in September 2012 following a 30-hour standoff with RCMP at his home in Pineview.
The Independent Investigation Office, which investigates police-involved deaths and serious injuries, cleared the RCMP of any criminal wrongdoing.
A coroners inquest into the incident has been called for Oct. 7-11 at the Prince George courthouse.
Witnesses will be questioned about what happened by lawyers representing the B.C. Coroners Service, the jury and the presiding coroner. The Matters family will also have the opportunity to have legal counsel present to ask questions.
Once the jury has heard all the evidence, they will be tasked with making recommendations to prevent a similar incident from happening again, but they are not permitted to find fault.
