This is for the nabbed drivers who say impounds go to far. I think not far enough.
One must remember that at highway speed, by the time you see possible danger, and try to respond it's far too late. At just 100km/h, that's 77ft/sec reaction distance, not much time or space, and most people overreact, as in brake too hard or over steer causing them to loose control, hence the accident.
Higher speeds make it far worse. Now for those who think that the posted speed limits are too slow, remember they're that for a reason, even if we don't agree or understand why, and it is the law.
One should try to change the speed limits through proper channels rather then just break the law, which I admit is easier. Those who really think it's OK to speed, run stop signs, weave in and out of traffic and such, they should get permission to ride with Highway Rescue and clean up the mess from speeders, or try to explain to a child or mother, about the death of a loved one.
Or if you think it's OK to break traffic laws, maybe you think it's OK to break other laws. Maybe post your address so people can rob you or commit other crimes against you and your family.
Back to Mr. Scott being angry about having his vehicle impounded and left standing at the side of the road. You did admit to speeding and at that speed you could have been charged with public endangerment, which is a felony. Be thankful you weren't arrested in front of your family and have them left standing on the side of the road without you. I wouldn't mention any repercussion from an accident.
