A ban on open fires in the Prince George Fire Centre will be lifted due to a decrease risk of wild fires.
The ban, which was in place since the B.C. Day long weekend, will no longer be in effect as of noon Tuesday, wildfire management branch spokesman Dustin Eno said.
Campfires were still allowed throughout the ban.
They remain limited to no larger than a half-metre by a half-metre and users must have a hand tool, such as a shovel, and at least eight metres of water nearby to fully extinguish the fire.
"Never leave a campfire unattended and make sure the ashes are completely cold to the touch before leaving the area for any length of time," Eno said.
Anyone planning to burn a so-called category 3 fire must obtain a burn registration number by calling 1-888-797-1717 and must comply with air quality control legislation.
