What's happening

Friday Night Mics at Cafe Voltaire at Books & Co., 1685 Third Ave., will see Eric Tompkins, Ali Henry and guests offer up a bluesy-jazzy sound at 8 p.m. As usual there is no charge.

Vernal Reverb dance is Friday at 9 p.m. with Generator Cabaret’s own DJ Jimi Smyth spinning at Two Rivers Gallery, 725 Civic Plaza. Must be 19+ with proof of valid ID. Tickets are $20 at the door.

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success is a movie, presented by Quantum Popcorn, featuring Deepak Chopra Friday at 7 p.m. Chopra offers his laws for success. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at

UNBC, Weldwood Theatre, 3333 University Way. Tickets are $12 at Books & Co., The District Clothing Co. or online at quantumpopcorn.ca.

Urban Farming: Sustainable City Living is presented by the Downtown Community Garden Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the main branch of the Prince George Library, 887 Dominion St. Guest speaker is Don Basserman who shares his passion for urban farming. Suggested donation is $2.

Remembering the First Easter is presented by The Gospel Singers at Elder Citizens Recreation Association Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at 1692 Tenth Ave. Guest soloist is Fred McLeod, instrumental selections from The Grounds Family. Admission $10 adults, children 5 to 12 years $5. There will be refreshments to follow. Tickets at the ECRA office or at the door.

Great Plains, with special guest Kevin Hutchings will perform Saturday at 8 p.m. at Art Space, above Books & Co., 1685 Third Avenue. Tickets are $15 at the book store.

Lecture Series, Anthropology in Our Back Yards, offers Journeys, Stories, and Places: from Ireland to Banff, and is being presented by Dr. Angele Smith, professor of anthropology at UNBC Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Art Space, above Books & Co., 1685 Third Avenue. All are welcome to this free event.

Faber Drive performs Saturday, May 11 at the Prince George Playhouse. Special guests are local favorites Horses and Bayonets. Tickets are $35 available at Ruins Boardshop, Black Sheep Gifts in Pine Centre, at the Prince George Citizen, and online at ticketweb.ca. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
