Snowbirds to soar over Quesnel

The Snowbirds make a fly past Prince George in formation in this 2009 file photo.

Skyfest now has Canada's best.

The world renowned air demonstration team from the Royal Canadian Air Force - the Snowbirds - will be in Quesnel this Aug. 3 and 4, said Tina Mitchell of the Quesnel Skyfest Society.

This is the third year for the Quesnel Skyfest event, one of only two air spectacles in the region (the other being the resurgent Vanderhoof air show). The event took off when members of the Quesnel Flying Club and other aviation enthusiasts got together to create the event, to draw attention to the city's airport, to the careers available in the air industry, and ti the Quesnel region as a tourist destination.

The Snowbirds will appear in Quesnel as part of their regular touring program. They attend about 60 public airshow events per year across Canada and internationally.

The Snowbirds are the first act for the 2013 event that Skyfest organizers have disclosed so far.
