The dust advisory for Prince George was lifted Saturday, after three consecutive days of high levels of PM10 particles.
The PM10 reading for downtown reached a high of 170 micrograms per cubic metre Friday night, caused mainly by road dust kicked up by industrial activity and road traffic. Any reading greater than 100 is considered very poor.
Winds from the south arrived Friday night, blowing away much of the air pollution that plagued the city earlier in the week. PM10 levels were down to 52 downtown as of 11 p.m. Friday, and had dropped to 11 at the College Heights monitoring station and 24 at the BCR industrial site.
The total reduced sulphur (TRS) level level peaked at 67 during the advisory. Any reading greater than 50 is considered poor air quality.
