A snowmobiler has been found safe and uninjured, North District RCMP Cst. Lesley Smith said shortly after noon Thursday after the sledder was reported missing at about 10 p.m. the day before.
Prior to being found, the sledder had last been seen snowmobiling along the Core Lodge Road then went into the Babcock Mountain area at about 10 a.m. and was not equipped with proper safety or communication gear, Smith said.
Search and rescue volunteers, who had asked the public to stay away from the area to avoid disturbing a track they had uncovered, found the rider the next day.
"The 38 year old enthusiast from Tumbler Ridge had gone over a steep cliff and wasn't able to climb back up," Smith said. "He stayed in place overnight and waited for a rescue."
