Enbridge ads more myth than fact

For the past few weeks Citizen readers have been assailed by Enbridge advertisements painting the following pastoral scene: sleek heavily-laden tankers glide through the placid waters of impossibly wide coastal fjords, flanked by artificially low and unmenacing mountains. Tugboats pull them in opposite directions from their path of travel, illustrating how easily they can be controlled despite impossible inertial constraints. And throughout it all, the trademark Enbridge green thread wends its way, spreading sustainability and prosperity wherever it passes.

Propaganda is the repetition of constant misinformation until average people believe this misinformation - techniques of Hitler, Stalin and Mao. Every one of the images and statements in these advertisements has been contradicted by experts giving testimony at the JRP hearings. This misinformation is every bit as much propaganda as those past infamous examples. The barrage of propaganda Citizen readers have been subjected to daily needs to be sustained, Enbridge must hope, until the mythology expressed by it is believed by you and I and acquiesced to by our governments.

Do not be deceived - our future depends upon it.
