Claire Lapointe has shot her way to Team B.C. in biathlon.

The senior member of the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club earned her inaugural provincial distinction after a stellar season, including a first-place finish last weekend at the Biathlon B.C. Cup 3 and B.C. Championship event held at Otway Nordic Ski Centre. Lapointe edged out CNSC teammate Emily Dickson by 43 seconds in the senior girls 7.5 kilometre pursuit event. Lapointe finished the ski and shoot event in 32 minutes, 20.2 seconds to earn 60 points. Dickson was second.

CNSC had 17 athletes competing this weekend at Otway. In addition to Lapointe earning a spot on Team B.C., there were seven other athletes who received the honour.

Josiah Fisher made Team B.C. for the first time in the senior boys category. Dickson, senior girls, and Leah Forsdick (youth women) each qualified for the provincial team for the second time.

Other Team B.C. athletes from CNSC include, four-time member Arthur Roots (youth men), fifth-year member Sarah Beaudry (youth women) and veterans Matt Neumann (senior men) and Megan Heinicke (senior women).

The next biathlon event is the national championship in Whistler starting March 15.
