Have you noticed that the City of Prince George has managed to slip a whopping 25 per cent increase onto residential utility bills? The increase in water and sewer fees is bad enough. However, when that is compounded with the discontinuance of the early payment discount, the effect is a hike of more than one-quarter in the semi-annual billings. (In my case, it works out to 25.4 per cent.)
This is another example of the totally out-of-control costs the city is loading onto residents. What ever happened to the promises to get spending under control at the city? Was that all smoke and hot air, or just another idea by the council that was sabotaged by the citys managers?
Perhaps we can petition the province to allow a referendum that would reverse the 1976 one and take areas like College Heights out of the city. On our own, we could not possibly do worse.
