The date Feb. 11, 2013, the first Family Day we get to celebrate... but not for all. The day before, my husband broke his leg snowmobiling at 3:30 p.m., 10 km in the bush. Well my husband is a trooper and rode his own sled out to the truck. Back to Family Day, the surgery day after being sent home with multiple breaks that required 10 or so screws and a plate.

We were at home waiting for his surgery time phone call which was expected and we asked if there were wheel chairs at the admitting front door area and the answer was “yes, please get here as fast as you can because we had a cancellation. The doctor's waiting.” Well I (the wife) didn't bring any coins for the chained up like shopping carts wheel chairs so I went to admitting and asked where the wheel chairs were. The lady said no we don't have any, only the chained up fee required wheel chairs. I was livid. No extra suggestion was offered. I was in a rush remember due to the cancellation and parked illegally in the fee required parking lot (which I knew about). I ran around on the next floor until I found one.

So I am now loading my broken husband when it was only then we noticed there were no leg supports on that wheel chair I scooped. This won't work. So due to that wonderful chair I found after running in the hallways, my husband asked me to take him to emergency where we knew wheel chairs were kept. I loaded my husband up in emergency and took him to admitting. “G” by the way is the first floor of the hospital and the first floor is the second floor.

You need to know this when using the elevator which of course slowed us down visiting these extra floors ( we got on the first elevator that opened, it went up, not noticing in our hurry). I like riding in elevators but my husband wasn't having any fun at all. We found the right surgery area to some waiting and wonderful people that helped us through this turn of events.
