IMSS gets funding

The Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society of Prince George is receiving $200,000 from the provincial government.

The money will come out of the Welcoming Communities Program (WCP) within the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training, officials said this week, and will be used for local settlement services for immigrants in the region.

"The north is lucky enough to have a strong resource sector and the skills immigrants bring with them are crucial to supporting further economic expansion," said Jobs Minister and Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Pat Bell in a statement announcing the funding.
