Beginning next week, Elections B.C. will begin mailing out more than 1.9 million notices to households to remind people to register to vote or update their voter information in advance of the spring provincial election.
In March, Elections B.C. will begin holding events at community locations like shopping malls and university campuses reminding people of the importance of registering. It's estimated that there are close to 3.3 million eligible voters, up from about 3 million four years ago.
As of last May, there is no longer a requirement for the election agency to do a complete door-to-door enumeration, however Elections B.C. will target certain neighbourhoods with high population turnover and new subdivisions for traditional enumeration tactics.
People can register or update their details online at www.elections.bc.ca/ovr or by calling 1-800-661-8683. The election is scheduled for May 14.
