A day after Premier Christy Clark unveiled her party's strategy to support early childhood development, Opposition leader Adrian Dix will make his own announcement in Prince George Thursday.

Joined by educators, the New Democrat leader will announce a proposal that is said to "reach students and families in Prince George and across British Columbia" at Exploration Place.

Dix will also address issues surrounding the just-tabled 2013 provincial budget.

During Question Period in Victoria Wednesday, Dix challenged the Liberals' claims of releasing a balanced budget.

"In fact, it's the Liberals' fifth deficit budget in a row," he said. "This is 2009 all over again, when the government claimed a deficit of $495 million, maximum, a week before the election and proved to be multiple times that afterwards."
