Friday Night Mics stars Doug Koyama at Cafe Voltaire, Books & Co., 1685 Third Avenue. Having played many times before, Doug has quickly become a favourite, with his warm vocals and unique looping talents. The fun starts at 8 p.m., and as always, there is never a charge for Friday Night Mics.
The last of the annual Francofun Winter Festival events takes place Saturday. The Sugar Shack brunch goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with free activities that take place at St. Mary's Hall, 1088 Gillett St. There's a snow sculpture contest, kids' art corner and face painting, a parade, two-person cross-saw competition, hammering, hockey puck shooting, snow shoeing, toffee on snow and lots more.
Charlotte Diamond will perform in a concert Saturday at 4 p.m. at Vanier Hall, 2901 Griffiths Avenue. Tickets for the concert are $15 for adults, $10 for children, and free for those two and under. Tickets are available at Studio 2880.
The Order of the Eastern Star presents the Sweetheart Auction Sunday, Feb. 10 at the Masonic Hall, 480 Vancouver Street from 1:30 to 4 p.m. and it features desserts, teas and coffee. Harold Rosenberg, author of Founders of the Faith: The Parallel Lives of God's Messengers, will appear Thursday, Feb. 7 in the Canfor Room, at the University of Northern B.C. at 7 p.m. about Women Mystics Across the Ages. Friday, Feb. 8 he will speak at the Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society, 1270 Second Avenue from 7 to 9 p.m. about Unity and Diversity Among Communities of Faith. and Saturday, Feb. 9 he will host a book signing at Books & Co., 1685 Third Ave. from 2 to 4 p.m. and will also discuss the question, What do Christ, Mohammed and Buddha Have in Common?
Privilege by Paul Weitz is presented by Theatre North West Thursday, Feb. 7 to 26. Two brothers face a harsh reality when their stockbroker father’s arrested for insider trading.
