Bantam Cats on the prowl

The Prince George bantam Tier 3 Cougars will try to wrap their teeth around gold at their own tournament.

Starting today, the Cats will host a five-team minor hockey event sponsored by Scotiabank. Games will be played at the Elksentre and Kin Centre.

The first outing for the Cougars is at 11 a.m. at Kin 3 against Burns Lake. Also today at Kin 3, the Cats will take on Vanderhoof at 6:45 p.m.

Other participating teams are Grande Prairie and Vernon.

After round robin, the second- and third-place squads will clash in a Sunday semifinal (7:30 a.m., Kin 3). The winner will advance to face the first-place team in the championship game, set for 12:45 p.m. Sunday, also at Kin 3.

Members of the Cougars are Dylan Lukinchuk, Dawsen Brienen, Logan Buehler, Tyler Marsh, Bailey Norkus, Ryan Whitehead, Noah Orton, Gregory Williams, Aaron Jakubowski, Dean Whitcomb, Caden Fanshaw, Landon Kitchen, Brad Price, Mason Roche, Scott Walters, Cole Beacom, Kyle Boshier and Landon Moleschi.
