Step up on the seniors' page

Re: Anchikoski letter, Jan. 18.

Up until a couple of years ago the only page the Citizen had for Seniors was the obituary page.

It was partly through the energetic endeavors of the ECRA (Elder Citizens Recreation Association) that the Seniors page exists in any form today. Sure there are articles on the Seniors page that pertain to members of ECRA and so it should. They have an active centrewhere lots of events and social activities are always on the go. They want people to know about them. You can only do that by informing your membership.

You will find by reading to the end of the items that the other senior groups have been listed and their functions mentioned as well.

I suggest that if you feel the Citizen has not supported "your" group, it's because no one has stepped up to promote their membership.

However if you are quick enough to complain about the coverage the Citizen provides then I suggest you could put your time to better use and volunteer at any one of the senior groups in the city. Maybe even be liaison between "your" group and the Citizen. If you give information to the reporter maybe the information that you want printed may be seen in print next time. As you have so stated : There is a wealth of information out there. Maybe you should point the reporter to that wealth. The opportunity is there, you have to provide the information.
