It was a heartbreaking finish for the Viking Construction peewee Cougars but at least they were good hosts.

The Cougars were edged 6-5 in the final of the Prince George Citizen peewee champions tournament Sunday by the Dawson Creek peewee Canucks at the Kin 3 arena.

Dawson Creek broke a 1-1 tie after the first period with four goals in the middle frame to take a 5-3 lead into the final 20 minutes. The tie was broken midway through the second period by the Canucks Riley Krune, who needed less than three minutes to score the natural hat trick and give his team a 4-1 lead.

Chase Schurack led the way in the Cougars comeback attempt with two goals while Garrett Anderson, Matthew Macsemniuk and Braeden Young had singles. The Viking Cougars only had nine players dressed for the game.
