Friday Night Mics at Cafe Voltaire, in Books & Co., 1685 Third Avenue features local follk singer John Rogers. Known for his lively tunes, John is always a great entertainer. The fun starts at 8 p.m. and don’t forget there is never a charge for this event.

Coldsnap Music Festival presents a great variety of shows with musical acts performing at several venues throughout Prince George Jan. 18 to 26. Landscape Painting Workshop with Rick Leong at Two Rivers Gallery Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Leong will challenge painters with exercises involving memory and the landscape. He will work with each student to develop a landscape that explores the multidimensional aspects of space and time. Pre-register at Two Rivers Gallery, 725 Civic Plaza or call 250-614-7800.

Art Workshop with Jennifer Wanner at Two Rivers Gallery Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. The Ontario artist is offering families a way to explore art in an unusual way. Children and adults will work together to create a new plant life based on the surrealist game, The Exquisite Corpse. Cost is $7 per person or $20 per family and suitable for all ages. Munsch Mania is offered at Bob Harkins branch of the Prince George Public Library Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. Celebrate Family Literacy Day with Robert Munsch stories and activities at stations all around the library. It's free, so come in and hear the CBC radio team of Betsy Trumpener, Marissa Harvey, and Robert Doane at 887 Dominion Street. For more information call 250-563-9251.

Prince George Symphony Orchestra presents Lord of the Dance Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Vanier Hall, 2901 Griffiths Avenue. Out of Alba and the PGSO will perform pieces from across the Celtic music spectrum - traditional and contemporary. Tickets are at Studio 2880, 2880-15th Avenue or by calling 250-563-2880.
