Tourism Prince George is taking over Exploration Place and Fort George Park Saturday for a day of indoor/outdoor winter activities to show just a smattering of how much there is to do in our city during the snowy months. The full Exploration Place facility will be open for free, the city's nordic skiers have set a track for those who bring their cross-country skis, snowshoes will be available, the Mr. PG mascot will be there, a petting zoo will be live and interactive, candle dipping and snow painting can be done, stories will be read, geocaching will be demonstrated, and more.
The event is the launch of Tourism Prince George's "TakeOnPG" campaign that urges everyone with thoughts about our city and region to post them on their new website. After that, the social media forces will be leveraged to spread the colours and characters of P.G.
"Not a dollar has to be spent on any of this," to take part in the TakeOnPG kickoff, said CEO Aidan Kelly. "This is a community rallying point. We don't always recognize the true assets we have. Even me, having the job I do, I was learning new stuff as I worked on the campaign. If I'm learning about new activities and features of our town, for sure other people will find things going on they didn't know about before, so everyone should come out on Saturday."
The event happens from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
