Prince George RCMP have arrested a man believed to have been involved in the recent incident where a teenage girl was spoken to while walking to school.
On the morning of Jan. 9 a 15 year old female student of Duchess Park secondary school reported to police that she was approached and then followed by a man in a dark coloured Ford Explorer while walking to school and that the same man has done this two previous times in the last month.
Information was provided to police that led investigators to a 52 year old male resident of the city. During the evening of Jan. 15 the man was taken into custody, but released a short time later with a number of conditions including:
No contact with the victim;
Not to be found alone with anyone under the age of 19;
Not to be found within 50 metres of any school property, swimming pool or playground where children under the age of 19 may be found.
Investigators will be recommending a charge of Criminal Harassment to Provincial Crown Counsel.
Prince George RCMP would like to encourage anyone that is confronted or followed by unknown persons, to call 9-1-1 immediately.
