The Prince George RCMP have promoted one of their own fill the position of Operations Officer for the detachment.

Inspector Brad Anderson, recently promoted from the rank of Staff Sergeant, is now officially the second in command at the detachment and responsible for general policing operations. Insp. Anderson comes to the position with more than 24 years of experience with the RCMP, all in B.C.

Anderson began his time in Prince George in 2007 as a watch commander in charge of one of the four general duty watches responsible for attending and investigating complaints from the public. From there, he took over as the Staff Sergeant in charge of the General Investigation Section, a specialized plain clothes unit responsible for investigating serious offences including homicides and sexual assaults.

Last summer, Anderson took over as the interim replacement for retired Insp. Keith Redl, the detachment's most recent Operations Officer.

On Dec. 11, Staff Sgt. Anderson was formally commissioned to the rank of Inspector and assigned the role of Operations Officer at the Prince George Detachment.

"I'm very pleased with the appointment of Insp. Anderson to our operations officer position," said Supt. Eric Stubbs, officer In charge of the Prince George Detachment. "This is a critical function in our office that requires considerable operational experience and exceptional communication skills. Insp. Anderson's performance in the acting role has shown me that he is more than qualified to successfully guide the operations at our detachment."
