Driver killed in collision with logging truck

One person has died as the result of a collision between a logging truck and a passenger vehicle on Monday morning about 12 km south of Granisle.

The collision occurred on Highway 118 at Shoulder Tower Road and the 57-year-old driver of the passenger vehicle succumbed to his injuries, North District RCMP Cst. Lesley Smith said.

Houston RCMP members were called to the scene at 10 a.m. and West Pacific Region Traffic Services and a traffic analyst from Terrace are investigating the crash to determine how the incident occurred. The BC Coroner Service have also been called to the scene.

“Highway 118 remains closed at this time due to the investigation” Smith said in a press release issued shortly before 1:30 p.m. The incident does not appear to be a criminal matter at this time."
