Timber stocktaking set

A better inventory is about to be done of the Robson Valley's supply of timber.

The community's input on the inventory is sought and a data package has been released to the public by the Ministry of Forests to help stimulate discussion on this information-gathering exercise.

"The data package, the first public document, is now available for public review and comment," said Norma Stromberg-Jones, the provincial government's stewardship forester based at the McBride field office. "It contains information about resource inventories, current land use and forest management practices that will be used in the timber supply analysis. The analysis, along with relevant input received from the public, stakeholders and First Nations, will support the chief forester’s decision on a new allowable annual cut for the Timber Supply Area."

A copy of the data package is available at the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations website or email any input to Norma.StrombergJo...@gov.bc.ca. Public comments will be accepted up to March 15.
