Athletes set to vault into new year

The competitive gymnastics season, which will be highlighted by Prince George hosting the B.C. provincial championships, is about to flip into action.

Provincials are expected to attract close to 650 athletes and will unfold April 6-7 at the Northern Sport Centre. The same facility housed the Western Canadian championships in 2008.

The first meet on the 2012-13 schedule is the Judges Cup. It will also be held in Prince George, Dec. 1-2. Other major events include the Zone 8 championships, Feb. 9-10 in Quesnel, the Langley Invitational (which will serve as the Western Canadian trials), March 9-10 in Langley, Westerns themselves, May 4-5 in Manitoba and the Ogopogo Invitational, June 1-2 in Kelowna.
