Police involved shooting

While trying to arrest the occupants of a vehicle as part of an ongoing investigation, police allege the driver accelerated towards an officer, resulting in a RCMP member discharging their sidearm at least once just after 6 p.m. Sunday at the corner of Strathcona Avenue and Norwood Street.

No one was hurt during the incident and the driver was taken into custody a short time later.

Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) was consulted, but will not be taking jurisdiction. As a result, the Prince George RCMP will be requesting another independent agency to investigate.
