The Fivestar Fight League is bringing a mixed martial arts show to the Prince George Civic Centre tonight.

Nine bouts are planned, with the action getting underway at 7 p.m.

Among the scheduled combatants are Prince George residents Aaron Bernard, Dave McLennan, Hank Lukyn and J.J. Daoust.

Bernard represents the Kaiten Mixed Martial Art Academy, while McLennan, Lukyn and Daoust are all part of the Murray Sholty Jiu-Jitsu & MMA Club.

Richie Sai-Appiah of Kaiten was also supposed to step into the ring but his bout in the 145-pound division was canceled after opponent TJ Klassen was injured during training.

Bernard's opponent in the 180-pound weight class is to be determined. McLennan (205 pounds) is scheduled to take on Taylor Bull. Lukyn (175 pounds) is paired with Brandon MacArthur, while Daoust (135 pounds) is slated to battle Mark Delgado.

Bernard's coach at Kaiten is Karm Manhas and he's expecting big things from his fighter.

"He's going to do awesome," Manhas said. "He's just getting better and better. If he gets hit he's not scared and most people don't have that. He's just going forward all the time. With the extra technique that's coming on board with his fitness level, he's becoming really scary, actually."

Manhas also sees loads of potential in the six-foot-five McLennan, one of the Sholty fighters. McLennan has a 1-1 record to date.

"He is my pick out of the whole region," Manhas said. "If he wanted to, and played all his cards right, he's a big-time talent."
